Tattoo Design: Spiders

Hello Readers!

I love tattoo art, I’ve probably mentioned it before. And, I’ve also seen it evolve over time.

When I got my first tattoo a long time ago, people thought I was crazy for putting something so bold on my forearm – where it’s visible to all!

I even got in a little bit of trouble back then because I wasn’t supposed to get a visible tattoo without permission (or maybe it was that I wasn’t supposed to get one at all). The military had a lot of rules, it’s hard to remember them all.

Anyway, it’s an art form that I enjoy and I’m always impressed when I see large pieces like a full sleeve. My first thought, “Wow, you’re so cool!” My second thought, “I need to get back to my artist…

The artist I work with, I like him a lot. I’ll say that I find him inspirational. Mostly, he’s a middle aged guy that quit his previous career and became a tattoo artist and has found success in that path. Maybe inspirational was the wrong word, perhaps I meant, jealous. Or envious.

My path is probably different, though. I’m not sure that I want to put tattoos on people where mistakes are permanent. It’s a lot of pressure. I’ll keep thinking about it and maybe, someday, I’ll take the plunge too.

Thinking about taking that plunge is largely what led to this illustration.

I thought to myself that it would be fun to create a sheet of similar designs as though I were going to pin it to the wall of my future tattoo shop. And, it was a lot of fun, I really hope to do this more in the future.

Thanks for reading!

JL
